We announce the passing of Mrs. Martha Joseph nee Augustine affectionately known as Ma Pato, Ma Patrice, or Mama, originally from Penville but resided in Vieille Case. She passed away on Monday May 19, 2025, at the age of 91, at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital.
She left to mourn her 10 ten children – Maynard Joseph, Andy Joseph, Florence Begora, Coates Joseph, June St Marc, Pearson Petterson Joseph, Jane John-Rose, Mary Toussaint, Valmond and Donia Joseph.
23 grandchildren including Manson, Mayfield and Kimara Joseph, Jean-Michel, Aurmel and Aurma Begora, Celene, Dale, Luke, Ronessa, Jade and Dr. Beneal John-Rose, Myra, Lennon, Josh, Rihanna, Kadeem, Gedeon, Nathan and Noah Joseph.
13 Great grand children including Marsia, Josiah, Malachai, David, Stephie, Madison, Owen, Chantel, and Lertiel.
Several nieces, including Irene, Merina, Inspector Janie Pierre, Tiney, Golden, Rose and Mary Daniel, Polly, Francimay, Rosemary, Mary and Felita Bannis.
Several nephews, including Brearley and Francois Daniel, Norman, Leon My Boy, Rossi, Eric Augustine, Linton, Hilaire, Earnest and Tony Bannis.
Daughters-in-law: Anne-Marie, Gislaine and Crystal Joseph, Joy Adams and Clotillia Carbon.
Sons-in-law: Alex Begora, Rennick Toussaint, John St. Marc and Benjamin John-Rose
Special adopted daughters, Michelin Valerie, June Angela Joseph, Theresa Stevens and Claudine Roberts

Lots of close friends and neighbors including Fathers Herman Sharplis, Elveau Augustine and Tarimo, Claudy, Yvonne, Lambert, Charlotte, Leo, Derrick, Poke, Jerome, Monica, Alick, Martin, Peter, Rudy J, Bolo, Catherine, Franklyn, Conrad, Vernice Bellony and many more, too numerous to mention.
She will also be remembered by the Augustine, LeBlanc, Joseph, George and Thomas families in the Bense, Paix Bouche, Portsmouth, Thibaud, Penville and Vieille Case communities, as well as abroad.
The funeral service will be held at the Vieille Case Roman Catholic Church on Saturday 14th June 2025 with viewing at 1.30pm and funeral service starting at 2pm. Interment will be at the Vieille Case Roman Catholic Cemetery.
