DAIC Announces the Appointment of a New Executive Director

Roseau, March 06, 2023 – The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) is pleased to announce that Mr. Kerwin Jno Baptiste, of Canefield, Dominica, has been appointed as the new Executive Director.

Mr. Jno Baptiste joins the Chamber after having worked at the Discover Dominica Authority’s Festivals Committee. He is well known for his involvement in the organizing of Dominica’s Carnival, The Real Mas and Jazz n’ Creole Music festivals to name a few.

He will succeed the Chamber’s outgoing Executive Director, Ms. Lizra Fabien, who has taken on a new role as the Caribbean Projects Manager for the Organization of American States (OAS) dealing with “Economically Empowered Women for Equitable and Resilient societies”. After having spent 5 years and a half in the role, Ms. Fabien has laid a solid foundation for Mr. Jno Baptiste to now follow and continue to build upon.

In his transition from his previous tourism and culture-based role, Mr. Jno Baptiste seeks to better the economic environment within Dominica. Over the past 13 years, he has worked in both the private and public sectors; experience that the DAIC believes will aid in continuing one of their missions to develop and strengthen partnerships with new and existing key stakeholders.

When asked, Jno Baptiste stated “ I am elated to work with the DAIC as it has been my passion to help elevate the level at which businesses operate within Dominica; especially focusing on the starts up and small enterprises. As a product of parents who struggled with taking their businesses to the next level, I believe in the vision and mission of the DAIC in the creation of a Dominican Private Sector that is proactive and visionary. Although following the footprints of Ms. Fabien will not be easy; I see this as a great opportunity to make a difference towards growth in Dominica’s economy.”

In relation to the new appointment, the President of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce, Brenton Hilaire, stated the following “We first want to thank Ms. Fabien for her past years of service to the chamber in helping to bring it to where it is today, and we wish her the best in her new role. The Board of Directors of the Chamber are pleased to welcome Mr. Jno Baptiste to the team. Though the face of Executive Director may have changed, the mission of the DAIC remains the same. Given Mr. Jno Baptiste’s background, we believe that he is well positioned to carry on the work that has been started. We thank everyone for their patience during the past transitionary period.”
