DAIC Advocates For Easing Of Conditions To Access Finance At AID Bank

The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) continues to seek ways to assist members and the economy by extension. In light of this the DAIC has engaged Government on many levels and continues to advocate for the easing of conditions so that small and medium businesses may access financing at the Agricultural Industrial and Development (AID) Bank.

Vice President of the DAIC, Stephen Lander  says, “We have engaged the Government…and a key message has been around how we fast track the implementation of public sector projects to the benefit of the local private sector. Those engagements have been positive and we look forward to playing an instrumental role in bringing the ideas to fruition with the Government”.

Lander said that tourism must be considered  presently while adjustments are made for the future. “Another key area of focus is the tourism industry both from the standpoint of how we bridge the gap that exist now and how we retool the industry such that we deliver a much better product as we inch our way back to normal. We shared ideas around incentives and we look forward to some positive feedback from the Government in that regard”.

Lander continues, “We’ve also advocated for the expansion of financing available to small and medium enterprises at the development bank but more importantly the easing of conditions with regard to accessing that finance”.

The DAIC’s focus continues to be on stimulating the local economy by improving the circulation of money and mitigating the impact on employment.
