The Commonwealth Students Association hails its activities with the Commonwealth of Dominica as a success.
Dominica’s Representative to the Commonwealth Students Association hosted a Youth and Student Development Workshop. The student-friendly workshop will be designed to expose students to the advantages of participation in student governance and provide them with basic tools for leadership. One of the outcomes from the Youth and Student Development Workshop was the need for a National Student Organization and an avenue for youth and students to freely express their views in regards to situations that directly and indirectly
impact them.
The Commonwealth Students Association held its first-ever Chill & Chat in collaboration with the Commonwealth Youth Council on July 10th 2019. Chill & Chat was born out of the lack of avenues for young people to talk about youth-related matters. and takes the form of a monthly talk show that is streamed live via social media. The topic of discussion on the premier show was Sustainable Youth Development through Advocacy, Entrepreneurship and Empowerment. Mr. Franz George of the Commonwealth Youth Council, Mrs. Kerry Ann Timothy of the Dominica Youth Business Trust and Mr. David Thornhill a training consultant were the guest on the premier episode. Guests covered a wide range of topics including the adequate representation of Dominicas youth population, Commonwealth Youth Council’s increase presence in the Caribbean, The DYBT’s Entrepreneurial Development Programme and Mentorship.
The CSA’s completed its five-day workshop “Work For Success: Preparation for the modern-day workforce”. participants engaged in discussion in regards to operations of the working environment for the aim of the participants gaining insight and equipping them with some needed the skills, knowledge and tips needed for the aspiring entrepreneurs and the evolving working environment. The sessions were facilitated by expert personnel from across different sectors in Dominica.
