Dominicans, the world over can now enjoy and share the life story of one of the Nature Isle’s most beloved radio personality and creole pioneer- Felix Henderson.
Henderson’s autobiography ‘Because you are with me’ was launched on October 16.
Close friend and former coworker of Felix Henderson, Tim Durand who delivered a brief address, remarked that while he knew some parts of Felix’s story, re reading it in the book brought him to tears. However, one cannot expect to be reading about the life of Felix Henderson and not laugh and that is an interesting character of the book.
Durand said that it is Felix’s wish that those charged with continuing the development of the Creole language pay close attention to the quality of the work done.
Another of Felix’s friend and colleague, Leroy ‘Wadix’ Charles, who is himself involved in the preservation of the Creole language said that he believes that Felix Henderson was “sent by the Father on a mission to transport creole throughout the length and breadth of the universe”. He said that Felix’s book reveals his entire life story, ‘from humble beginnings to statesmanship, deep rooted spirituality, and encountering and championing and triumphing over the pestilence of darkness. It is a best seller and a must read’.
Felix Henderson held many positions at the Dominica Broadcasting Corporation(DBS radio) including host of Esperance Creole where he often used his original phrase, “Oh my Finger”. He also presented Creole news as well as a number of unique, comical advertisements.
‘Because You Are With Me’ was edited by Justice Dr.Irving Andre.
Emonews congratulates Felix Henderson on the launching of his book and encourages all Dominicans to purchase a copy at local stores or through Grace Henderson who may be reached at (767) 616-5469.
