“As at today, September 29, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases are now 31. This is according to National Epidemiologist, Dr. Shaluddin Ahmed. This brings the total number of active cases on island to 7. They are presently in isolation at the COVID facility.
Ahmed continued, “Since the opening of the border, a total of 13 cases were identified. They are between the ages of 2 years and 59 years old.
All, except one, are asymptomatic. One has mild symptoms, namely shortness of breath, but no fever”.
Dr. Ahmed pointed out that 10 out of the 13 cases, were imported and the individuals were placed at the Quarantine Facility on arrival.
Three out of the eight seven persons who were identified through contact tracing tested positive for COVID-19, meaning that 96% of the contacts were PCR-negative.
Dr. Ahmed said, “The transmission of COVID remains sporadic and is due to the importation of cases. There is no evidence of community transmission”.
He reminded persons travelling, including overnight visitors to ensure that they complete the online questionnaire, no later than 6:00 AM on the day of arrival. Also, that all travellers except those from the CARICOM bubble, are required to obtain a negative PCR result that was obtained within 72 hours from the arrival date.
Dr. Ahmed admonishes all to contact Mr. Lodrick at 276 7986 or email [email protected], if they are having any problems completing the online questionnaire.
Further, if persons do not receive a reply after successfully submitting the questionnaire by 10:00 pm, they may send an email to [email protected]
