Meanwhile, Creole enthusiast and renowned DJ, Leroy ‘Wadix/ Wadicole’ Charles says that he is disappointed with the number of traditional costumes displayed especially on the Monday Street Jump Up/ Parade.
He says, “One must remember every carnival in the Caribbean take pride in the panty, the feather and the brazier. That’s the contemporary aspect, yes, it is ok, but the traditional aspect is tremendously lacking and it is extremely disapointing and I am asking the authorities to please revisit that”.
He says that not much energy is given to the traditional aspects like the Sensay and Bwa Bwa. He calls on stakeholders to revisit what’s sets us apart from the other carnivals in the Caribbean.
He commended the Afro Stilt Walkers who he says were very impressive in their display especially incorporating the youth on the Stilts. He also commended the Thunderbirds and says that he missed Carnival Corner in this year’s parade.
There were no major incidents reported during the carnival season.
