Confirmed Cases Of COVID-19 Rise To 33

National epidemiologist Dr. Shaluddin  Ahmed informed the nation on Wednesday that there was another imported case of COVID-19 on island, which brings the total number of active cases to 4, and the total number of confirmed cases to 33.

Dr. Ahmed said, “The new case is a 58-year-old female who returned from Guadeloupe on October 4th and she had a valid negative PCR result prior to coming to Dominica. She was admitted to the quarantine facility on arrival as she returned from a high risk country. She was confirmed as a positive Covid-19 on October 12th through PCR Testing during our routine screening procedure on day five of her arrival. Currently she is asymptomatic.”

Dr. Ahmed said that there is only 1 contact of this new case. This contact is also returning to Dominica and is presently at the quarantine facility  and will be tested in due time.

He reiterated that there is no evidence of community transmission in Dominica.
