Roseau, Dominica – The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training, and National Excellence of Dominica is proud to announce the celebration of French Week, coinciding with the international Francophonie month. This year marks the 54th anniversary of the Francophonie, and Dominica is set to join the global celebration with a series of cultural and educational activities throughout March 2024.
The highlight of the celebration will be the French Spelling Bee Competition, scheduled for March 20th, 10am at the Alliance Francaise. The competition, themed “Le français…toujours vivant” (French…always alive), aims to showcase the achievements of students in learning the French language and Francophonie culture.
Nine talented students from various primary schools across Dominica will compete in the French Spelling Bee, demonstrating their linguistic skills and appreciation for the French language.

- In addition to the spelling bee, the Ministry has organized a range of activities including French Assemblies, Francophone week at all schools, Dominica Grammar School’s Bal Masque, and Creole Literacy week, spanning from March 18th to 29th
- The Ministry encourages the community to engage in the festivities and support the young participants as they showcase their linguistic talents and celebrate the Francophonie culture.
