The Castle Bruce Secondary held its graduation ceremony on Friday 28, June. The Valedictorian award went to Adicia Burton, a proud member of the school’s girl’s volleyball team and active player of many other sports.
It has been widely accepted that students are unable to excel at both academics and sports but Burton has blown that notion out of the waters. She says, “I exist in both of those worlds. Sports and academics do go together hand in hand. Each helps you prosper in the other area. You need to be intelligent to excel at sports and sports help develop that discipline and concentration you need to succeed at life”.
Burton also walked away with awards for Social Studies, Chemistry, Math, English, Physics, Spanish and Biology. Burton shared the Sportswoman of the year award with Kitjuanie Jno. Baptiste. Student of the Year, of course, went to Adicia Burton.
The salutatorian award went to Nia Belle who also took awards for Math, Biology, Physics, and Leadership. The featured address was delivered by past students and fashion entrepreneur Mikkie Graham.
