On November 1st, 2021, two prominent and health-driven establishments – Body Bliss Spa and The Cave Barbershop launched a Canned Food Drive in support of the children at Chances.
The Essence of the Event
Clients and non-clients of the two establishments were encouraged to donate canned foods of choice to either of the three business locations (Body Bliss Spa Roseau and Picard, and The Cave Barbershop), in exchange for discounted service prices. This was carried out throughout the month of November, as was done in November of 2020.
Comparable to November of 2021, Body Bliss Spa introduced a canned food drive in November of 2020. The food items assembled were donated to The Rotaract Club of Portsmouth, who then distributed them to less fortunate families in Portsmouth.
The Portsmouth Rotaract Club became certified on March 28, 1923, and remained committed to the Rotary International motto of “Service Above Self”. Since then, the club has played a pivotal role in society. This non-profit organization consists of persons with distinct crafts and professions, who cooperate to support purposeful movements and charities with intent to better the lives of persons in need.
On January 20th, 2022, the goods collected from the drive were donated to Ann Myers on behalf of Chances – a place of safety for children in need of care and protection.
Chances was officially established on April 13, 2011, and was founded by the Government of The Commonwealth of Dominica (The Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit – Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of Dominica) and Action for Children/ UK.
This sanctuary is located in Jimmit Dominica, where it serves as a home for children who have suffered abuse of any sort. The Government of Dominica alongside Welfare Division have collaborated to devise plans which provide ample resources and security for the youth being housed.
Body Bliss Spa and The Cave Barbershop looks forward to hosting annual food drives every November and urges with the public to participate in any way possible. The smallest contribution can go a long way in helping the less fortunate.

The core purpose of this establishment remains to foster the culture of health and wellness in men, as it is not so prevalent today. There, men can rely on quality services such as manicures, pedicures, facials, hair and beard cuts, waxing and other body treatments which revitalizes, styles, and groom clients. The Cave Barbershop anticipates a fruitful annual Canned Food Drive in partnership with Body Bliss Spa and more future deeds.
