Emonews has named Dominica’s very own Bouyon Boss as personality of the year 2019.
Asa Edwards from South City Grandbay, who is known by his stage name Asa Bantan has become a household name and an international performer. When he is not in the studio or on the stage, he is occupied doing charitable work. It is for these reasons and more that Asa Bantan is recognized as Emonews Personality of the Year.
On the music scene Asa continues to prove himself as an artist as he keeps turning out culturally relevant tunes such as the latest, ‘If I was de Prime Minister’.
Further, he has collaborated with top music icons such as Patrice Roberts and ‘Motto’. Also, he continues to be invited back as part of the UberSoca Cruise adding to his worldwide fame.
The Bouyon Boss was chosen to open the 2019 World Creole Music Festivals and left patrons ‘tongue tied’ for words to describe his out of this world performance, while setting the bar for all the other performers.
In October, Asa received a Special Recognition Award at this year’s Independence Celebrations for his contribution to the development of culture in Dominica.
He won two awards at the 16th Annual International Soca Awards Online Competition and was named as DBS’ Brand Ambassador in January. Asa’s charitable work stretches far and wide.
He has donated gardening tools to the Newtown Primary School, a microwave to the Achievement Learning Center, clothing items and groceries to the Dominica State Prison. Asa has also donated to various persons all over Dominica who are in need and has contributed to various go fund me causes.
Congratulations to Asa Banton for an outstanding year and greater success to you in the New Year.
