The Parents Advocating for the Inclusion of Children in Society (PACIS) Respite Center in Chance, Portsmouth which was severely damaged during the passage of Hurricane Maria is in need of about fifteen thousand dollars to return the facility to where it was before the devastating storm.
The center served as a daycare for children who are physically challenged from the North and North Western parts of the island.
Ainsworth Irish, who serves as president of the organization, said that the center was utilized as a Hurricane shelter and the Board of Directors have to decide on ways to raise funds to repair the facility since the occupants have been relocated. The center receives a subvention from Government for which it is extremely grateful.
Many parents who were able to go to work, knowing that their child is being cared for have been calling for the reopening of the center.
