Dominica Represented At The 25th World Scout Jamboree Thanks To Operation K; Participation Described As Dream Come True

The Dominica Scout Association(DSA) is privileged to participate in the 25th World Scout Jamboree ongoing in Korea from August 1 to 12.

Acting Chief Scout Commissioner, Kenrick Lecointe says that this opportunity is a dream come true.

“I have dedicated more than half of my lifetime to Scouting so getting such an opportunity, not only to attend as the unit leader but also to bring along 8 young boys ages 15 to17 to this once in a lifetime opportunity, is a dream come true, as these young boys won’t get another chance to attend another Jamboree in thier lifetime as youth participants as it only takes place every 4 years.”

He adds, “For us just to be able to meet over 40,000 Scouts from over 180 countries is a great and momentous occasion”.

Sammy Wyke, President of the Dominica Scout Association also accompanied the troupe on this momentous occasion.

Dominica’s participation in the Jamboree was made possible as a result of a solidarity fund named Operation K.

Operation K was put in place by the Korea Scout Association to assist 10 persons from troops worldwide to attend the Jamboree. This was put in place to ensure that scouts worldwide get to participate in the 25th Jamboree regardless of their socioeconomic circumstance.
