The Award-Winning, Luxury Boutique Resort Becomes The First and Only Dominica Hotel and Just the Eighth Caribbean Hotel to be
Accepted to Relais & Châteaux
Secret Bay, a six-star resort experience secluded on the Caribbean’s ‘Nature Island’ featuring clifftop residential-style villas, is pleased to announce its acceptance to join Relais & Châteaux, the most prestigious association of luxury hotels and restaurants in the world. Secret Bay is the first and only property in Dominica to be accepted into Relais & Châteaux and is just the eighth property in the Caribbean to become affiliated with the internationally acclaimed, elite group of curated hotels. Secret Bay’s dedication to sustainability, approach to hospitality, attention to six-star, highly-personalised service and culinary ingenuity are among the qualities that led Relais & Châteaux to select Secret Bay to join its network of the ‘World’s Finest Intimate Hotels.’
“We are extremely delighted to join Relais & Châteaux, which has always set the benchmark for preserving excellence in the timeless traditions of cuisine and hospitality,” said Secret Bay proprietor, Gregor Nassief. “Secret Bay and Relais & Châteaux share similar values around celebrating authenticity; working with, and employing, the local community; and, honouring sustainable practices. The affiliation will further enhance what guests love about Secret Bay: a special place that allows them to reconnect to themselves, to nature and to the ones they love.”
Philippe Gombert, President of Relais & Châteaux said: “We are very happy to count Secret Bay as a member of our family. The property will be the perfect ambassador for our values and our commitment to protect biodiversity and local heritage. The hotel is perfectly located, and offers a delicious and conscious Caribbean immersion for our guests.”
Secret Bay, Dominica’s most acclaimed resort, is a limited collection of freestanding, secluded and private villas that are immersed in nature and positioned on a clifftop overlooking the azure Caribbean Sea. The resort was founded upon a story of love, both between Gregor and his wife, Sandra, and for the land which they shared a deep commitment to preserving. Latin American architect and Sandra’s father, Fruto Vivas, collaborated with the couple to design the villas that comprise the living, breathing eco-luxury resort at Secret Bay. The resort is renowned for its ability to effortlessly capture the luxury of time and space and is celebrated for its idyllic tropical setting, an artful fusion of high design, local craftsmanship, commitment to sustainable development and authentic, bespoke service. Part of Secret Bay’s elevated experience comes in the form of its culinary offerings. At the innovative Zing Zing restaurant, Executive Chef Grant Lynott operates a “no-menu” concept that’s part food-lab and part restaurant, challenging many of the traditional fine dining restaurant rules, and focusing on a hyper-local and intimate experience that simply can’t be replicated.
“Relais & Châteaux is the global pinnacle of hospitality and cuisine, and we are proud to have met their standards to become a partner,” said Dinesh Kissoon, Secret Bay’s general manager, or maître de maison. “Secret Bay’s commitment to bespoke, highly personalised service along with nonpareil authenticity and experiential dining makes for a once-in-a-lifetime trip for Relais & Châteaux travelers.”
Relais & Châteaux represents 580 independently owned and operated boutique hotels and gourmet restaurants in extraordinary locations around the globe. Each property accepted into the Relais & Châteaux family must embody values of sustainability, hospitality and service while celebrating the local culture of their unique region.
