Paix Bouche Primary Wins the Third Competition in the First Round of the DBS / MOE Reading Competition

Ajnah Thomas of Paix Bouche Primary has placed first in the third competition of the first round of the DBS/MOE Reading Competition. She had a total score of 293 points.

Second place went to Jenillia Paul of Coulibistrie Primary, with a score of 250 points, while third place went to Aliana Auguiste of Clifton Primary. She had 244 points. Jerlani Matthew of St.John’s Primary and Dalia Angol of Roosevelt Douglas Primary took fourth and fifth place with 242 and 235 points respectively. These students will move on to the quarterfinals.

Ms. Sonia Hill, one of the judges, said that while there was generally good reading, the students need to work on their pitch and tone of voice, as well as respect punctuation marks. She also said that while some students know the skill of making eye contact, in that they kept their hands in their books, no one was 100% in showing eye contact.

The next competition in the first round is scheduled for June 11, 2019. Emonews congratulates all students for a job well done and encourages every child in Dominica to keep on reading.
