Acting Chief Environment Officer, Tassie Thomas informs that actions are being undertaken at Dominica’s ports of entry in efforts of preventing the re-introduction of the mosquito-borne disease Dengue Fever.
She states that the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) called on countries last month to take actions in order to prevent the possible outbreak of the disease. Thomas states that mosquito surveillance has been heightened at the air and seaports by taking measures in disinfecting all incoming vessels.
Environmental officers are also in place on the Port as a lookout for persons coming in on the ferries showing signs and symptoms of Dengue.
