The UWI Seismic Research Centre in collaboration with the University of Cambridge has deployed a two-person team to Dominica to conduct geohazards communications research. This involves co-creation workshops with communities for the development of an animation, alongside a survey campaign.
This project seeks to develop a bespoke and contextualised explainer animation video for use in outreach sessions and as a teaching tool. The team intends to engage with local communities in Dominica, adopting narratives and storytelling to encourage at-risk communities to prepare for a future volcanic eruption.
Please see the link below to the survey which would help us understand baseline levels of knowledge and preparedness, and perceptions and attitudes related to volcanic risk and hazard for at-risk communities in southern Dominica, vulnerable groups and indigenous communities.
