Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles
Valid from: 6:00 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2021
A high pressure system is expected to maintain breezy conditions across the area during the next 24 hours with a gradual reduction in wind speeds expected as the day progresses. However, a low to mid-level trough is projected to generate an increase in shower activity across parts of the island chain, including Dominica, from tonight into Sunday.
Additionally, an increase in dust haze is expected during today into tomorrow resulting in reduced visibility. People with respiratory disorders should take the necessary precautions to minimize complications.
Moderate to rough seas are anticipated during the next 24 hours with swells down to near 10.0ft along the northern and eastern coastlines. A further improvement in sea conditions can be expected by tomorrow.
A Small Craft Warning remains in effect for above normal seas. Small craft operators and people living near or traversing coastal areas should remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution. Sea bathers are advised to stay out of the water.
