Vielle Case Native Doing Marvelous Things For Dominican People

Stephanie James who was born and raised in the community of Vielle Case says, “I have always been passionate about helping others especially the elderly and less fortunate. This passion grew even more after my aunt who raised me, moved to the Infirmary during the latter years of her life”.

Stephanie James has become a household name especially among the elderly who benefit from the Stephanie James Feeding Program. The program has expanded to allow for mini excursions for the elderly. This they appreciate greatly as they get to visit various places around the island.

James continues to make regular donations to the Dominica Infirmary even though her aunt has since passed on. She has donated cameras, diapers, food items, televisions, walkers and bouquets to the hard working staff. In the coming weeks, she will be donating a brand new wheelchair to the institution.

Further, James is collaborating with Peter Prosper on a project that provides meals for the sick and less fortunate all around Dominica. There are a few feeding programs already established in Vielle Case, Thibaud, Savanne Paille, Tan-Tan and Cottage.

Nola Valerie who works with the Vielle Case section of the program said that they are doing quite well and highlighted a few of the activities done so far. She said that James sponsored a mini tour for some of the elderly on July 25 and along with Michael Massicot held a ceremony on August 5 to honor the two oldest persons in Vielle Case.  Entertainment was provided by the Caribbean Cowboy, Julian Riviere who serenaded the elderly with some of the songs of their youth. The students of the Primary school also received school bags and lunch kits at the ceremony. A 50 inch television was sponsored by James and placed at the village council where the elderly may go to relax and watch a movie some time. Valerie said that they are blessed to have Stephanie’s assistance.According to James, she is not rich  and began her charitable work with only $50. At times she has to sacrifice her own needs in order to continue her charitable work and this she does with no hesitation. According to her, having her aunt at the Infirmary made her realize that it is mandatory to give back not only to her aunt, but to the other residents of the Infirmary along with a few other sick and shut-in individuals.”This is my calling and I decide to settle for nothing less but to do the best that I can for them”.”The joy and fulfillment that helping others brings to me is truly unexplainable. I am thankful to the lord for providing for me so that I can give back to others in big and small ways”.May God bless you Stephanie James as you continue to be a blessing to others.
