Dominica joined the rest of the world in celebrating Universal Children’s Day on Wednesday at the Massacre/ Canefield Primary School with the painting of a mural.
Coordinator (Ag) of the Child Abuse Prevention Unit said the activity was well received by the children who had lots of fun. “The children were very excited and really wanted to express themselves about child abuse and how they felt about it. When they were finished with their mural, they were happy about what they had done.”
She says that the children were the ones who did the drawings. They explained what they wanted to do and were allowed to express themselves. The mural was done by students of the Massacre/Canefield Primary school and the Pioneer Preparatory school with assistance from a teacher and staff members from the Bureau of Gender Affairs.
