Two Way Ties for Top Awards at ITSS

The graduation ceremony of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School was held on Wednesday 19 June 2019 at the People’s Pentecostal Family Church, Goodwill at 2:00 PM. The ceremony was held under the theme ‘Today’s accomplishments are merely a rehearsal for tomorrow’s grander successes’.

Featured speaker, Dr. Camille David was a fitting match for the occasion as he embodies the idea that accomplishments should lead on to more success. David, who is presently the Marine Expert for the German International Cooperative in the Caribbean Aqua-Terrestrial Solutions Program, encouraged students to 1. have Self-knowledge which means setting their own goals and devising strategies to accomplish them, 2. Be committed which means to keep doing no matter if everything else stops and 3. To do self-introspection; to look from within and not from without as is usually done.

David used quotes to illustrate to the students how to accomplish things presently for greater success tomorrow. He illustrated how being 1% better each day can allow you to be 37 times better at the year’s end, concluding that ‘small improvements or gains accumulate into massive changes’. He borrowed from John Wooden to remind students that ‘failure is not fatal but failure to change might be’.

Congratulations students. Celebrate this achievement as you continue pressing on to grander ones.
