Valance Etienne was born and raised in Roseau Dominica on 20th June 1935 and passed on 6 January 2022. Valance is the son of Florestine (nee John) and Floyd Etienne (Roseau) His siblings are Lawrence (Deceased) Loftus (Deceased) Christopher Virginia and Rufina.

Valance married Emelia (daughter of Lydia  and Lixon Fontaine from Grandbay) in Bradford UK in February 1961. They remained married for 55 years until Emelia’s death in December 2015. They had 6 children Trevor Juliana Larry (Deceased) Winston Jennifer and Lee and 10 grandchildren. His love and many stories of growing up in the beautiful island of Dominica are cherished and loved by us all.

After years of factory work Valance started working for himself as a bricklayer/builder in the late 70s until his retirement.

A well known member and  community patron of the Dominica Association of Bradford UK  for over 40 years. The linear line was never broken. He relished in the family community offering his advice support and assistance in the building field to his community and a large demographic of people.

He loved his family dearly and will be sadly missed by his family, relatives, dear friends, neighbours and his community.

Thank you papa for making us so happy and making the world a better place.

The funeral will take place on Friday 28th January at Our Lady of Lourdes & St William RC Church Bradford and we would ask you to keep him in prayer.

Now resting  in perpetual peace in the arms of the Lord. In God we trust and to God we return

From the children of Valance Etienne
