We are proud to introduce our three exceptional Chevening Scholars for 2024. These individuals have been selected for their outstanding achievements and their potential to contribute significantly to Dominica’s development.
Melissa Morgan is a seasoned Gender and Development Specialist with over a decade of experience. Holding a BA in Psychology and an MSc in Project Management, she has represented Dominica in various regional and international human rights dialogues. In her role as a Public Sector Manager, Melissa has seen firsthand the critical link between human behavior and addressing national priorities like gender equality, climate change, and sustainable agriculture.
Her Chevening journey will take her to the London School of Economics, where she will pursue an MSc in Social and Cultural Psychology. Melissa believes this academic endeavor will empower her to design comprehensive, sustainable programs that address economic and social inequalities at their core, bridging the gap between public policy challenges and tailored interventions.
Kieron Williams is a creative force in media and communications, known for his sharp eye for detail and artistic vision. He has successfully crafted impactful marketing strategies, curated engaging social media content, and produced media that resonates with diverse audiences. Kieron is determined to lead a media and communications revolution in the Caribbean, bringing international attention to the challenges faced by Small Island Developing States in the face of climate change.
He will pursue an MA in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Sheffield, with the aim of returning to Dominica equipped with the knowledge, experience, and global network necessary to build a media platform that amplifies the voices of smaller nations.
Kerahia Jno Baptiste’s passion for Economics was sparked during her time as a community youth leader and deepened during her tenure as Dominica’s CARICOM Youth Ambassador from 2014 to 2017. Through this role, she gained invaluable insights into the importance of effective policy planning, monitoring, and execution. Kerahia is now driven by a desire to understand economic philosophies and contribute to efficient policy development.
She will be pursuing an MSc in Economics at the University of Manchester, with ambitions to become an Economist specializing in policy development. These scholars are set to embark on transformative academic journeys, each aiming to bring back knowledge and skills that will greatly benefit Dominica’s future.
