Thirteen (13) New Candidates for the Dominica Labour Party

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, at the Dominica Labour Party Delegates Conference on Sunday, announced 13 new candidates for the upcoming general elections.

Among the new candidates, Prime Minister announced his wife Melissa Skerrit as the candidate for Roseau Central, moving Joseph Isaac to contest the Roseau North seat. The Prime Minister described the new representatives as young, bright Dominicans. He also urged the Labour family to unite around them and also thank the parliamentary representatives who are stepping down, for their services rendered.

Dr. Adis King will replace Kelver Darroux in St. Joseph; Dr. Irvin McIntyre will replace his brother Collin McIntyre in Roseau Valley; Edward Registe will replace Justina Charles in Grandbay; Gretta Roberts will replace Ivor Stephenson in Grand Fond; Cosier Frederick will replace Cassius Darroux in Salybia; Anicka Charles will replace Martin Christmas in Marigot; Octavia Alfred will replace Johnson Drigo in Castle Bruce; Kent Edwards will replace Petter St. Jean in La Plaine; Marva Williams will replace Kenneth Darroux in Petite Savanne; Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite for Roseau South; Fidel Grant will replace Anthenia Benjamin in Wesley; Joseph Isaac will replace Miriam Blanchard in Goodwill North and Melissa Skerrit will contest Roseau Central.

The 13 new candidates will join Reginald Austrie for Cottage; Roselyn Paul for Paix Bouche; Catherine Daniel for Colihaut; Rayburn Blackmoore for Mahaut; Denise Charles for Soufriere; Ian Douglas for Portsmouth and Nicols Shanks Esprit for Salisbury.

The General Elections is constitutionally due in 2020.
