Dominica Housing Recovery Project (HRP) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development was initiated by the Government of Dominica following successful negotiations by the Honourable Prime Minister and the Ministry of Finance with the World Bank to finance house replacement.
The Housing Recovery Project’s main objective is the reconstruction of privately owned small homes that were destroyed by Hurricane Maria.
The Project is being implemented by a Project Implementation Unit which has been in operations from February 2019.
Several key activities were undertaken leading to the qualification of beneficiaries who satisfy the project’s eligibility criteria and documentation. To date, the Unit has implemented its Management Information System and has engaged various stakeholders to identify the first cohort of beneficiaries.
The HRP will be hosting its first homeowner’s orientation to introduce key project partners, learn about the project’s financial, technical and administrative support, and to provide information relating to their enrollment with the Dominica Housing Recovery Project.
In keeping with the Ministry of Health protocol relating to COVID-19, the first cohort of forty (40) beneficiaries will be facilitated at this session. Other Homeowner’s orientations will be held subsequently.
The official ceremony which will be carried live will be held at the Goodwill Parish Hall on Friday 28 August 2020 from 9:00am.
The homeowners will be addressed by the Honorable Prime Minister and the Minister for Housing.
The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, through the Project Implementation Unit, congratulates the beneficiaries enrolled thus far and looks forward to hosting them for the first time.
