THE GOVERNMENT EXPECTS TO SIGN CONTRACT WITH THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT IN JUNE FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE GOODWILL SECONDARY SCHOOL

At the Hon Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit bi-weekly press conference, he was asked to give an update on the reconstruction of the Goodwill Secondary School. He took time to publicly give thanks to the Principal of the Goodwill Secondary School for her devotion. 

“This Principal is exceptional, and she has an intrinsic commitment to students and students welfare; and the depth that she goes into to provide support and care for the students is something that I believe every citizen needs to exemplify.” Hon Skerrit remarked fondly.

The Prime Minister agreed that the end of the shift system between the Goodwill Secondary, and the Dominica Grammar School is long overdue. He also mentioned that he is providing means to make their learning spaces more comfortable for the time being. He said “We have directed the Ministry of education to purchase additional fans to ensure that the students’ issue of the heat can be minimised.”

Regarding the Reconstruction, The Prime Minister revealed that the Government Of Dominica Is expecting to sign a contract with the Chinese Government by June 2023. “In the next few weeks, we’re gonna move with the clearing of the site- to demolish the old structures of the existing goodwill secondary school. So that we can get ready for the Chinese, when they are coming to Dominica.“ the Prime Minister said. He insisted that the reconstruction of all seven government schools is seen as urgent matters, however the Goodwill Secondary School will take priority considering their current circumstances.
