Roseau, Dominica – Mar. 3, 2021: The Dominica Red Cross Society (DRCS) continues to provide support in various capacities in the country’s fight against COVID-19. The DCRS on Tuesday, made a significant contribution with the donation of cooler bags that will facilitate delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine to the Ministry of health, Wellness and New Health Investment to assist the Health Professionals at the Health Centres in the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccines to those who are unable to visit the Health Centre.
The Dominica Red Cross understands the importance of being vaccinated as one of the key steps to stopping the spread of COVID-19 and to support and partner with the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investments in reaching those who require the extra support in obtaining the vaccine. The vaccines need to be kept cold during distribution, and the donation of coolers helps to make that possible. “The Dominica Red Cross is the Unity in Community”
Vaccines are a light at the end of this long, dark COVID-19 tunnel. But until we reach sufficient levels of immunity in every country, we are still walking through that tunnel and we cannot allow ourselves to be blinded by the light. It is still important that people practice the simple measures that can protect them and their families from the virus. The Dominica Red Cross asks that people continue to observe the protocols of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment.
Our volunteers are also assisting at the Health Centres to ensure the effective roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine and we continue to share information on the vaccine as well as how to stay safe and healthy during this pandemic.
