During the budget presentation in July, the Prime Minister announced that concessions will be given to taxi operators on 20 seater vehicles that are 5 years and under.
However, president of the Combined Taxi Association, Phillip Guiste, said that the Association has spoken to the authorities to make allowance for vehicles 10 years and under instead of five, as this is more affordable for taxi operators.
Guiste says that while there have been many consultations with interested parties, he believes that it would be better if the taxi association succeeds in meeting with the relevant authorities themselves. He says that they are better able to explain their reasoning behind the adjustment if they meet with the authorities directly instead of through other parties.
