Dominica State College Alumni Association partners with Lifeline Ministries for a mural volunteer day in Roseau

ROSEAU, DOMINICA – November 4, 2026 – The Dominica State College Alumni Association (DSAA) is marking Dominica's National Community Day of Service today with a mural volunteer day at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) in Roseau. Running from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the project is a partnership with Lifeline Ministries.

DSAA members are working side by side with Dominica State College (DSC) student volunteers to create a mural that brightens a space shared by patients, families and healthcare workers. The day reflects the association's commitment to giving back in practical, visible ways and to connecting alumni across generations through service.

The Membership & Engagement Committee chose to hold the event on the national day itself, joining communities across the island in a shared spirit of volunteerism. The DSC students taking part also served at the association's White Sunset event in October, continuing a growing pipeline of young volunteers.

"Service is at the heart of who we are as Dominica State College alumni. Today, we're proud to stand with Lifeline Ministries and our students to leave something lasting at DCFH for the people it serves," said Wayne Liburd, President of the DSAA.

"This mural is about more than paint. It's about alumni and students showing up together for our community, and showing what a connected, engaged DSAA looks like," said Dr. Rosette Rabess, Board Secretary and Chair of the DSAA Membership & Engagement Committee.

The Community Day of Service is one of several DSAA initiatives, alongside the White Sunset with a Hint of Creole celebration, the Family & Friends Fun Day at Rosalie River, and the Book & Stationery Drive supporting primary schools.

Alumni who wish to join future service projects can register at sifocolalumni.raklet.com/Apply. Membership is free for current DSC students who have attended for at least one year.
