The cookie named dispatch_session keeps you signed in after you request and use a sign-in link. It contains a session token, not your email address. It is protected from access by page scripts and sent over HTTPS. Its maximum lifetime is 60 days; signing out ends the session sooner.
We do not set this account cookie before you sign in. Reading the news does not require it.
Readership and advertisements
Our readership counter operates on the server and does not set an analytics cookie. Advertisements served directly by this website do not set advertising cookies or load a third-party advertising network. An advertiser’s destination may use its own cookies when you visit it.
Hosting and security
Cloudflare provides website delivery and security. Depending on the protection needed for a request, it may set cookies to distinguish legitimate traffic or remember a completed security challenge. Facebook and other external services
Facebook images load from Facebook, and its video player loads when you choose to play a video. These requests can share technical information with Facebook, and the player may use cookies or similar technologies according to Meta’s cookie policy. Other external services use their own policies when you visit them. You can use the link to the original post instead of playing a video here.
Managing cookies
Use your browser settings to view, block or delete cookies. Signing out or deleting the site’s account cookie removes your sign-in access until you sign in again. Blocking cookies may affect account features, security checks or external video playback; you can still read public news without a reader account.
