St. Patrick Church Launches Building Program

St. Patrick Church Launches Building Program

The parish of St.Patrick has officially launched its church rebuilding campaign under the theme “Rebuilding Church, Reigniting Faith”.

The church building was damaged during the passing of Hurricane Maria in 2017 and parishioners have been using the garage of the presbytery since.

Parish priest Father Brancker John extended an invitation to all to lend a hand to assist in the rebuilding project. He said that the church has outgrown the present location thus it is time to rebuild. He believes that the tenacity of parishioners will push the work.

The building project will be done in eight phases and will cost five million EC dollars. So far the parishioners have raised over four hundred thousand dollars and the insurance contributions will be over 200 thousand.

Lead architect Davidson Julien has included in his plans ideas to mitigate the sea blast and heat which the building receives because of its location. The roof will also be constructed to be Hurricane resistant.

A number of fund raising activities have been planned  and it is the hope of all that the building will be re dedicated in three years to mark the 100th anniversary.
