A very enthusiastic crowd participated in the public discussion held last night at the Public Service Union building. The discussion was organised by the electoral reform group and moderated by Father Nigel Karam. In his opening remarks, Father Karam shared two thoughts that he deemed very important and these were respect and consensus.
Panelists representing the United Workers Party were Hon. Lennox Linton, leader of the opposition and senator Attorney Ronald Charles and representing the Dominica Freedom Party were economist Kent Vital, party leader and party chairman, Johnson Boston. There were no representatives of the Dominica Labour Party.
Opening the presentations was attorney John Elu Charles who clarified many of the sections of the law. Many persons in the public asked questions and seek clarification on issues of law especially those parts of the law that deal with the rights and responsibilities of the chairman of the electoral commission.
The electoral reform group promised that this will not be their last effort at educating and engaging the public.
