Roseau, Dominica- August 21, 2023— Public Consultations on electoral reform continue this week for groups and associations; and at the community level in Portsmouth, Castle Bruce and Wesley.
Representatives of religious organizations, trade unions, the media, sports associations, youth organizations, business groupings, NGOs; and groups representing women, the elderly and Persons with Disabilities will meet on Monday, August 21 at the State House Conference Center from 7pm.
Community consultations begin on Tuesday, August 22 at the American Canadian School of Medicine in Picard, Portsmouth. Sessions continue on Wednesday, August 23 at the Regional Emergency Center in Castle Bruce and on Thursday, August 24 at the North East Comprehensive School from 6pm.
Members of the public can also submit written comments on the Sir Dennis Byron Electoral Reform Report and draft legislation to [email protected].
Last week, members of the legal fraternity; representatives of political parties and independent election candidates; professionals and members of academia; and Dominicans in the Diaspora met at the State House Conference Center to review and provide feedback on various aspects of the Sir Dennis Byron Report.
Sir Dennis Byron submitted his final report on Monday, June 12, 2023 following a comprehensive review of Dominica’s electoral system.
