Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit will address the MEDays Forum, taking place in Tangier, Morocco from November 27 to 30, 2024.
The forum, organized by the Amadeus Institute and hosted under the theme “Sovereignties and Resiliences: Towards a New Global Balance,” brings together world leaders, policymakers and experts to discuss critical global challenges and opportunities.
Prime Minister Skerrit, a recognized voice on issues of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and climate resilience, will focus on the urgent need for international collaboration to strengthen resilience in an era marked by climate crises, economic disruptions and shifting geopolitical dynamics. He will highlight Dominica’s vulnerability to climate change, emphasize the nation’s ambitious goal to become the world’s first climate-resilient country and call on the world’s largest economies to take greater responsibility for addressing the climate crisis.
The Dominican leader will also make a case for fairer trade practices, enhanced access to sustainable financing and investment in green technology and renewable energy to benefit small island states.
During his visit to Morocco, Prime Minister Skerrit will hold discussions with the country’s Foreign Affairs Minister to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of the Environment, Rural Modernization, Kalinago Upliftment and Constituency Empowerment, Honourable Darron Lloyd.
In the Prime Minister’s absence from the state, Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security Honourable Dr. Irving McIntyre is acting as Prime Minister.
