President Burton Heads Dominica’s Delegation to the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)

The President of Dominica, Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, DAH, is heading a high-level Dominican delegation to the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

President Burton will address the General Assembly on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 25th.

The session is being held under the theme “Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations.”

World leaders will assess the progress made on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); discuss ways to overcome recent global shocks; and consider three action oriented documents outlining a development path for the future, namely the ‘Pact for the Future’, the ‘Global Digital Compact’ and the ‘Declaration on Future Generations.’

Dominica’s delegation to UNGA 2024 includes First Gentleman Mr. Gilbert Burton; Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy, Honourable Dr. Vince Henderson; Dominica’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations H.E Philbert Aaron; Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, H.E Kelver Darroux; Consular Sheldon Peter Anthony, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Valda Powell.

In the absence of President Burton from the State, Her Excellency Josette Matthew will discharge the duties of Acting President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
