Police Seize Guns And Ammunition; Intercepts Backdoor Vessel

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force(CDPF) on Friday 19,  March intercepted vehicle registration# TO250 driven by a resident of Picard, Portsmouth. The police found and seized a 9 mm pistol and 6 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a.40 caliber pistol with 50 rounds of ammunition in the vehicle. A subsequent search at the driver’s residence uncovered 1328 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 506 rounds of .38 ammunition, 8 rounds of .380 ammunition, 50 rounds of .22 ammunition, 1 round of .40 ammunition, 1 round of 7.62 ammunition and 1 round of 7.56 ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Commonwealth of Dominica Coast Guard intercepted an open keel vessel about 4 nautical miles West of Scotts Head.

Two Dominican nationals and seven Haitian nationals were found on board.

The police is conducting investigations into an alleged illegal migration. The individuals have been transported to the Government quarantine facility in Portsmouth.
