Corbette issued a serious warning to boat captains that they are not to facilitate persons entering the state illegally. He said that if found involved in acts of illegal entry, they(boat captains and all workers involved) will ‘face the full brunt of the law’ and that the police will use ‘every legal means to ensure compliance to the order’.
Corbette reminded the general public of their duty to report any illegal entrants. He said that illegal entrants put citizens lives at risk and jeopardize the security of the state.
According to the Deputy Chief of Police, the aim of the police is to ensure that persons adhere to the curfew order which was put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19.
