On April 8th, 2025, as part of the Future Housing program, the Honorable Minister for Housing, Mrs. Melissa Poponne Skerrit officially granted Dominica’s Triple Jump Gold medalist, Thea Lafond-Gadson her property title for land in Warner.
Minister of Housing Melissa Poponne Skerrit expressed delight to officially handover the certificate of title to Mrs. Lanfond Gadson for a gorgeous plot in Warner with stunning ocean and mountain views awarded to her based on her gold medal win in the 2024 Olympics.
Mrs. Lafond Gatson conveyed her excitement over being bestowed such a gift from the Government and people of Dominica.
“My husband and I are very Excited to mark this new chapter in our lives […] I can’t help but think about our family and our children growing up in a home in Dominica -We have a piece of our own sanctuary and we look forward to building something special.”
Thea LaFond is Dominica’s own Olympic triple jump gold medalist. She has represented Dominica in multiple international competitions, including the Olympics, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games. She is one of Dominica’s most successful athletes and continues to be a strong competitor in global athletics.
