POEM: Her Name was Maria

POEM: Her Name was Maria

WrittenBy Annette Phillip

Maria, you were full of destruction. Maria, you were full of devastation The winds were howling, the rivers overflowing, you were called the monstrous storm.

You left the country breathless, knocked all the life out of it.
From north to south and
east to west total chaos.
You left no place to turn,
everywhere totally exposed.

Dominica I cry for you, ravished beyond repair,
nothing can compare.
To how beautiful, lush and green
you have always been.

Our people will work together
To build back the green nature isle
The Isle of beauty and splendour
That is our sweet Dominica.
