The Leeward Island Air Transport (LIAT) has had its share of unfortunate circumstances, from having to be bailed out by Caribbean Governments a few times to being forced into liquidation following the effects of the dreadful COVID-19 disease.
Dominica’s Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, says that the Caribbean’s major air transport has served Dominica well.
“I will say that we will all agree that LIAT 1974 Limited has served Dominica well. We have had challenges in the past with delayed flights or cancellation of flights, but we have to say that LIAT has been good to us not only in Dominica but the entire Caribbean.”
The Prime Minister went on to say that Dominica will support any entity which takes over from LIAT.
The Board of Directors met with the majority shareholders and plans to meet with all shareholders soon to begin making decisions for the future.
