Plans To Continue Farming And Vocational Skills At Prison

Minister of National Security,  Hon. Rayburn Blackmore says that plans to continue poultry farming at the Dominica State Prison will continue on the new year. He said that the program which started before Hurricane Maria will see a possible expansion so that when prisoners leave the prison, they may continue earning a living with these skills.

He said that the prison needs to maximize the land available for farming to produce not only for the prison but also for the hospitals.

He added, “One of the things that we are looking at in terms of vocational skills- welding and plumbing. We actually started discussions for the need to have a program with the State College”.The Minister said that this program will be done in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.
