On Friday September 27th, 2024, the National Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU Dominica) and Nevis Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU Nevis) signed the framework for the first of its kind collaboration across the Caribbean Region.

General Manager of NCCU Nevis Sydney Newton and Chief Executive Officer of NCCU Dominica Curth Charles both expressed delight at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, stating that this collaboration will greatly benefit the membership of both Credit Unions. Pillar number 1 of NCCU Dominica’s Strategic Plan is Excellent Member Services. This pillar goes beyond just tightening up on the services already provided to the membership but promises the creation and implementation of new innovative initiatives. Mr. Charles highlighted the importance of the signing of the MoU for NCCU Dominica as the institution works towards successfully implementing all actions in its Strategic Plan.

Manager of the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU) Denis Garfield highlighted the importance of the shared services venture as it directly contributes to the goal of cooperation among cooperatives. She voiced the commitment of the CCCU to seeing more initiatives of the same nature across the region.

Execution of the initiative will provide members of NCCU Dominica who reside in St Kitts & Nevis the ability to deposit, withdraw and make loan payments to their accounts. NCCU Nevis members residing in Dominica will also have the same convenience. The Credit Unions feel elated to pioneer this move into shared services and with the reality of each institution’s membership spanning across the region, their eyes are set on further extending this service to other countries in the not-so-distant future.

Complete details and guidelines on the terms and commencement of the new services will be shared with membership in due course.
