The Dominica Bureau of Standards in its efforts to create awareness on the National Chemicals Management Programme, has invited Farmer representatives from across the island to a one day workshop on ‘Sound Agrochemical Management’. This workshop is scheduled to take place on Friday, 26th of July, 2019 at the Public Service Union during the hours of 9:00 am- 2:30 pm. Items on agenda include:
- Good Agricultural Farming Practices
- Chemical Management (Storage, Handling, Waste Disposal, Emergency response planning)
- Environmental Health Risk Assessment & Management
This event is one of the first in the series of activities to be taking place on island. Future programs will be aimed at targeting priority stakeholders and business affiliates across the board. It is the general intention of the chemical management program to systematically align its goals with the national strategy and mandate for climate resilience.
The principle objective of the Chemical Management Programme is to address as well as create awareness as to the current environmental issues and deficiencies with reference to the monitoring and control of industrial chemical products used within farming practices.
