In Dominica’s pursuit to become the first resilient country in the world, a ban has been implemented on the importation and the use of Styrofoam containers, plastic utensils, and plastic, effective January 2019. The phasing period runs until June 2019. On January 16th, 2019, Natalie Roland was the first to be certified by the Dominica Bureau of Standards as an authorized retailer of Biodegradable products.
Her business, 100% Green, has been selling a Biodegradable/Compostable container for the past six years. Natalie Roland spoke with EMONEWS and she had the following to say, “Selling those products for the past 6 years and now being certified, feels like a milestone”. Her aim is to continue working in partnership with the necessary authority to have an eco-friendly environment.
