The Government of Dominica has spent EC$162,000 to procure seeds and produce seedlings and planting materials to be distributed island wide. The Ministry’s plan which entails guidelines outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investments, concentrates on food production as an apparatus to prepare, mitigate, respond and recover from any incident of Corona Virus with special emphasis on National Food Security.

Farmers are encouraged to contact their extension officers for details while the Ministry works towards a mechanism for distribution. Backyard gardeners and hobbyists will also form part of the process upon completion of distribution of commercial and subsistence farmers.

This is in keeping with the Government’s mandate to farmers to enable them to be productive while at the same time, ensuring that food is available on island.
