Dr. Phelecia Scotland of Marigot, Dominica, has officially graduated from Rice University with a Ph.D. in Materials Science and NanoEngineering. Rice University, ranked the No. 1 university in Texas and among the top 20 in the United States, provided the platform for Dr. Scotland to make remarkable strides in the field of environmental remediation and advanced materials development.

Her pioneering research includes innovative work on upcycling waste carbon into high-value nanomaterials for use in lithium-ion batteries—an advancement with great potential for sustainable technology. Throughout her doctoral studies, she published over 14 peer-reviewed scientific articles, including three first-author papers in leading journals.
