The Kalinago Child Support Foundation Inc. (KCSF), a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of Kalinago children, has announced the launch of its “Child Abuse Prevention Campaign, Banner Initiative.” The announcement was made by Amanda Theodore-Langlais, Founder and Executive Director of the Foundation, during a recent address to the community and business leaders.
Founded on August 10, 2010, and based at the Karina Cultural Village in Bataca, the KCSF has been instrumental in supporting over 300 children in the Kalinago Territory. The organization’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty and abuse by providing essential resources, education, and opportunities to the community’s most vulnerable youth.
Speaking at the launch, Theodore-Langlais emphasized the importance of collective action in combating child abuse, which she described as “a dark reality that we must confront with unwavering resolve.” She called on businesses and media houses across the island to join the campaign by sponsoring banners that will be displayed prominently to promote child abuse awareness and encourage the public to report any incidents of abuse.
“This initiative is more than just an advertisement; it’s a testament to your dedication to the well-being of our children and the future of our society,” Theodore-Langlais stated. She highlighted the dual purpose of the banners—spreading the critical message of child protection and showcasing the social responsibility of participating businesses.
The campaign invites businesses to invest in these banners, offering them a platform to demonstrate their commitment to community welfare while also benefiting from increased visibility. Media houses were also called upon to play a crucial role in amplifying the campaign’s message, helping to educate the public and foster a culture where child abuse is not tolerated.
Theodore-Langlais urged the public to be vigilant and proactive in reporting suspected cases of child abuse, emphasizing that the protection of children is a shared responsibility. “Let’s unite in this mission. Let’s be the voices that speak out against child abuse. Let’s be the hands that reach out to help. And let’s be the hearts that care deeply about the future of our children,” she concluded.
The Kalinago Child Support Foundation’s campaign represents a significant step towards safeguarding the welfare of children in the Kalinago Territory and beyond, as the community comes together to fight against child abuse.
