Junelle Vital walked away with the coveted title of Valedictorian at the Convent High School 2019 graduation ceremony. She received numerous other subject and non-academic prizes.
As she bid farewell to the class of 2019, she reminded them that they had been in a similar position as they are now; when they first entered the gates of CHS. She said that conquering fears to capture dreams is a big task of life. However, they have successfully conquered five years of high school and are thus able to keep conquering.
The featured address was delivered by Jo-Anne Commodore, acting PS in the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Immigration and former CHS student. She outlined three ways in which the students may conquer their fears and capture their dreams. Firstly, know who u are.
Commodore says that this isn’t necessarily what job you perform or the roles which you play but it is something so much deeper. For her, she knows that she is a child of God which has helped her in conquering many fears.
Secondly, the students ought to lose themselves in the service of others. She said that many people have a fear of truly giving of themselves and thirdly, they must always do the right thing and be excellent for when you do the right thing, peace is our reward.
A total of 93 young ladies met the criteria for graduation. The theme of the ceremony was ‘Conquering fears to capture the dream’.
