ITSS Valedictorian encourages students to remain steadfast in their pursuit of success

Seventeen year old, Allton Belleau, of the community of Salisbury, ended his secondary school journey with a bang having secured 14 awards at the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School’s (ITSS) graduation ceremony 2022. Belleau captured the Valedictorian and Principal’s award as well as subject and extra-curricular awards including Most Innovative Student, Leadership Award, School Spirit & Assistance, English Language, Mathematics, Social-Studies, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Business Education, Information Technology, Biology and Physics.

Upon interview with Emonews, Belleau stressed the need for students to remain committed in their pursuit for success. He voiced, “Keep focused, never give up and keep trying. No matter how hard something might be, never stop trying to overcome it. You can always take a step back and then come back to it. Anyone can do it. It’s all about how much you want the goal you are aiming for.”

Notably, Belleau is one of the few male Valedictorians in the history of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School. He expressed that he is extremely proud to represent the males of ITSS and to pave the way for future males.

Furthermore, he pointed that the graduation theme, “Success should not be crippled by life’s unforeseen changes”, is a testament to his commitment and the dedication of the graduating class of 2022. “As I ponder upon the theme, it brought back all the memories of past years. No matter what we went through, Hurricane Maria, the impact of Covid-19 and online school, we still pulled through successfully. It just goes to show with the right mind and determination anything is possible,” he added.

Belleau believes that while there may be countless hurdles on the route to success, there are also countless opportunities. He advised his fellow graduates to market their skills, work on their weaknesses, embrace educational opportunities, seek assistance where necessary and to remember that the sky is the limit. He further guided that it is important to manifest their dreams and to claim them. The burden of success lies on every individual. The only limitation to one’s ability is themselves.

As we embrace the success of Mr. Belleau, Emonews extends congratulations to him and wishes him an abundance of success in the near and distant future.
